What a crazy month!  Two classes plus more work hours since some coworkers are gone plus MOVING.  It's definitely been hectic.  I think the biggest thing I'm worried about is the Tech Unit in the e-portfolio.  Since I'm not in the education department, lesson plans are DEFINITELY not my forte.  I'm worried that either I'm over thinking things or not putting enough into them.  They seem to take me twice as long as I think they should.  I suppose the final projects are daunting as well but they're something I think I'm more familiar with.  At least at this point.  Ask me again this time next week what I think and I may tell a different story.  I know it will get done and I will do well but right now I'm doing what I do best: STRESSING!

  1. No worries, Katie. You are going to be fine. You are so intelligent---just remember to review Blooms Taxonomy along with the 9 National Standards for Music Education, and you should be fine. Your lesson plan should focus on what your outcomes or objectives are: The Student Will...only focus on three or four elements---use technology as a vehicle for delivery. Maybe you could create a webquest for student to evaluate various performances of Caro mio ben on Youtube?
Always assess what your outcomes (TSW) are---how do they demonstrate to you they KNOW the material? Get them thinking critically. All voice teachers are EXPERTS at doing this. Think about all the elements of a performance: the technical aspects, the language aspects, the connection to the text, the mastery of communication. Perhaps you could create lesson plans surrounding each one of these aspects?

I hate to bombard you with all of these ideas, but I do want to assure you that YOU know more than what you are giving yourself credit for.

    Stay strong....you can do it!
